Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a system of primary health care that combines current medical science and inquiry with safe and effective traditional therapies. Health is more than just the absence of disease; it is optimal daily functioning of every body system, a balanced lifestyle, abundant energy, adequate sleep, and positive thoughts and emotions.

While no two doctors are the same, all naturopathic physicians are guided by a specific set of principles:

  • The healing power of nature
  • Identify and treat the cause
  • First do no harm
  • Treat the whole person
  • The physician as teacher
  • Prevention

Naturopathic physicians combine conventional medical analysis and research with treatments that are safe, effective, non-toxic, and support the body’s innate healing response. We strive to listen to all your health care needs to create a collaborative, personalized treatment plan to help you achieve your health goals.

We use many tools to assess your current state of health, including a very thorough health history, physical exam, comprehensive laboratory testing, nutritional analysis and tongue and pulse diagnosis.

Depending on your unique needs, several treatments may be combined to achieve your health goals. These include:

  • Herbal medicine
  • Clinical nutrition
  • Lifestyle counselling
  • Intravenous therapies
  • Homeopathy
  • Bio-therapeutic drainage
  • Acupuncture
  • Bowen technique

New Patients - What to Expect

Your first appointment will be 60 minutes and will include a very thorough discussion of your health concerns, a complaint-oriented physical exam and some treatment recommendations. Please bring your completed health history, any previous lab reports and current medication and supplements.

The second visit is also an hour long and consist of any remaining questioning or physical exam. Once the assessment is complete, a personalized treatment plan will be discussed that will address your short- and long-term goals.

Subsequent visits are generally scheduled a month later, and can be every month during active treatment, or several times a year while on a stable long-term plan. Frequency will also depend on the type of treatment performed; Bowen technique, Neural therapy, intravenous therapy and acupuncture is often scheduled weekly during active treatment.
